  1. A barrister, in the UK, is a lawyer 
  2. qualified by study at the Inns of Court to
  3. plead for a client in court. In Scotland such
  4. lawyers are called advocates. Barristers also
  5. undertake the writing of opinions on the 
  6. prospects of a case before trial. They act 
  7. for clients through the intermediary of 
  8. the SOLICITOR.  
  9. In Britain, a barrister is obliged to accept 
  10. instructions from any client who wants their
  11. services, provided the case is within the
  12. lawyer's expertise and the client can pay
  13. the final fee. The barrister is not, 
  14. therefore, personally vouching for a client's
  15. case, and cannot turn down a case because of
  16. their perception of a client's guilt or 
  17. innocence.
